Area 1: Investigating PFAS-Health Effects
We are conducting the largest and most comprehensive study to date on how PFAS exposure contributes to the development of metabolic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
Our program brings together data and biospecimens from over 50,000 participants across 20 studies, including pregnancy, childhood, and adult cohorts, and clinical trials with decades of follow-up. We are measuring a broad range of PFAS chemicals, both legacy and emerging compounds, and expanding testing in studies where PFAS have not yet been measured.
By harmonizing data across diverse populations and life stages, this work will provide a comprehensive picture of how PFAS exposure affects metabolic health throughout the lifespan.
